Idioms with Nick
These are idioms I studied today with Nick. I'm gonna do this everyday.

Poor weather can really be a blessing in disguise for travel pics. Taken from the Rialto Bridge in Venice, everyone else ran off to get out of the rain!

- Brings back memories! Best shot I got from a busy night over Valentine's Day weekend in 2013.
- Like I always said, your photograph is amazing and makes the photogenic city of Venice even more photogenic. Particularly "Cucina di Mario" is absolutely magnificent!
- We had it rain out...at midnight! Everything was confusing so we were running hiding under things trying to get our bearings.
(=it suddenly started downpouring and we wanted to avoid the rain so we ran under sth to figure out where we are/ what we need to do)
GET ONE's BEARINGS
It took me a little while to get my bearings in the new office, but after a week, I felt as if I'd been working there for years.
# a dime a dozen

# bite the bullet

- I don't actually enjoy cleaning, but I bite the bullet and do it so that everything in my house isn't covered in a thick layer of dust.
- I know she's disappointed to have not gotten her dream job, but the sooner she bites the bullet and accepts it, the sooner she can move on.

It's funny how people get so bent out of shape when you explain to them that beauty bars aren't soap
For real. Oh, by the way -- hello! I'm new to this subreddit. I used to make handmade soap, but I just got too busy with working so many hours that I haven't done it in a while. I just make sure I buy it from my regular places every so often so I don't run out.
Anyways! On another random subreddit, I mentioned handmade soap and people are starting to get bent out of shape over it. It always makes me go 'huh?' and then facepalm(a gesture in which the palm of one's hand is brought to one's face as an expression of dismay, exasperation, embarrassment,) for even mentioning it.
# its not the rocket science
- Sure, it took a little bit of time to figure out, but reinstalling the modem wasn't rocket science or anything.
# go back to the drawing board
back to the original or an earlier stage of planning or development:
- Long Beach city planners go back to the drawing board after series of boisterous(noisy) town halls

- The debate surrounding traffic and parking is focusing on the fallacy(an idea or belief that is false but that many people think is true) that everyone has to drive. Unfortunately for many, this is the case but it's the result of very targeted policies that promoted the private automobile over all other forms of transportation.
- I feel you, but most of us aren't merely concerned with "moving around the city." most places i go, socially, within the city, i can reach via walking, bicycle, or uber. the problem is, a vast majority of us commute outside of the city for work.
